TIM HURST

Tim Hurst has lived in Rafford since 2006 along with his wife and three children. Having served in the RAF, they fell in love with the area during their final posting and bought a home in Upper Rafford which they have renovated and extended. The children, having been schooled at Logie Primary School, have now grown and moved out of the family home.

In his professional life Tim is a chartered engineer and is currently the Managing Director of Wave Energy Scotland (WES), a subsidiary of Highlands and Islands Enterprise, with the objective of developing innovative solutions to the technical challenges facing the wave energy sector. He has also managed a number of renewable energy projects including the Isle of Eigg Community Renewable Energy project.

Tim continues to enjoy all that the area has to offer, both locally and further afield. Personal interests include keeping fit and enjoying the outdoors whenever he can, his activities of choice include mountain biking, kayaking and kitesurfing.

Tim’s wife, Nancy, runs a small training business from their home and also enjoys the great outdoors. Nancy’s parents have also moved to the area.

With the children slowing becoming financially self-sufficient Tim hopes to be able to semi-retire in the near future. Both Tim and Nancy feel a desire to put something back into the community that has served them and their children so well these past 15 years.
