In 2018 one of FDT’s original projects was to build a community Hub. Post Covid FDT checked with the community via a community facilities survey and the results suggested working with existing facilities and associated groups was preferable to constructing a new hub at this time.
Specific local buildings and facilities within Finderne
In the Finderne area we are lucky to have two community halls, Rafford Village Hall and Edinkillie Hall, the newly restored Boathouse Bothy and Stable Room at Loch of Blairs created by Friends of Blairs Loch ( SCIO), Rafford Church Hall, the newly restored Clubroom at Altyre Estate, the Long Room at Logie Steading and the Ting Hoose venue at Marcassie Farm.

Finderne’s existing facilities.
Edinkillie Hall

Edinkillie Hall has a large hall with stage, separate small hall, kitchen, and toilets.
The hall can be hired for £40 per day plus electricity, charged at 20p per unit.

Rafford Village Hall

The Hall has a large function room which can host approximately 80 people for dancing and up to 100 for seated events. There is a small stage area and a fully equipped kitchen with oven, microwave, water boiler, fridge, and dishwasher.

Boathouse Bothy & Stable Room at Loch of Blairs

The Bothy can accommodate groups of up to 18 and can serve as a classroom or meeting space. The Stable Room sits alongside the Loch of Blairs Boathouse and comfortably accommodates groups of 30 sitting at tables, or 50 in a theatre style layout. The Stable can be booked for hire separately or with exclusive access to both the Stable and the adjacent Bothy. Whichever is the case, toilet facilities (including disabled access) are provided in the Boot Room next door.

Rafford Church Hall

Rafford Church Hall is a medium sized space which can seat approximately 50 persons. There is also an adjacent kitchen area and toilet.
And finally, although not community-run, the following three venues are also available for the community to use in Finderne.
The Ting Hoose at Marcassie Farm

The Ting Hoose is a fully equipped purpose-built venue for group bookings for training courses etc. with a kitchen-dining room at one end and a multi-purpose meeting room at the other, both of which can accommodate up to 20 people seated, and toilets and cloakroom in the middle. The building is fully accessible.

The Clubroom Altyre

The Clubroom is located near the Glasgow School of Art building on Altyre Estate. Recently refurbished the Clubroom has two large rooms, the larger one being upstairs, while the kitchen with more seating and the two toilets are on the ground floor. No disabled access. The Long Room at Logie Steading

The Long Room seats approximately 40 in rows, or 15 for a meeting. It has a mini kitchen, and toilet and is wheelchair accessible.
