Supporting the rural economy is a key priority for the FDT. Which includes helping local businesses with the recruitment and training of employees. Initially the FDT operated within the framework of the modern apprenticeship scheme and were successful in placing two apprentices within local businesses.

The FDT recognise that this scheme has its limitations and we are currently investigating how best to support local businesses in this area.
